Cannot Run Reports Correctly from Firefox

Issue:
You set your default Web browser to Firefox. You then ran an XSL report from Civil 3D and received the following error message:

Error displaying report in registered browser. The specific file was not found.

Solution:
To run Civil 3D reports, Microsoft Internet Explorer needs to be set as your default browser.

However, you can work around this requirement by associating .HTM and .HTML files with Firefox while leaving Microsoft Internet Explorer set as your default browser. So when you double-click .HTM or .HTML files, the files will open in Firefox. But when you generate XSL Reports from Civil, the reports will be created using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

To set Microsoft Internet Explorer as your default browser

  1. On the Start menu (Windows), click Settings > Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove programs.
  3. In Add or Remove Programs, click Set Program Access and Defaults.
  4. Expand the Custom section.
  5. Under Choose a default Web browser, select the Internet Explorer option.
  6. Click OK.

To associate .HTM and .HTML file types to Firefox

  1. In Windows Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  2. In the Folders Option dialog box, click the File Types tab.
  3. On the File Types tab, under Registered file types, select the .HTM file type. Click Change.
  4. In the Open With dialog box, under Programs, select Firefox. Click OK.

Repeat Steps 3 to 4 for the .HTML file type.
