Confirmation of Sucessful Service Pack 2 Installation for 2008 Civil Products

Issue:
You applied Service Pack 2 (SP2) to your AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008, AutoCAD Civil 3D - Land Desktop Companion 2008 or AutoCAD Land Desktop 2008 product. You now want to confirm that the service pack was installed successfully.

Solution:
There have been reports that some installations of SP2 have not been successful, even though it seemed to be and SP2 was listed in the Product Service Pack field under Product Information.

To confirm that SP2 was installed successfully, browse to the following applicable file for your product and confirm the version:

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008

C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008\AeccAlnSvrLoader.dll

AutoCAD Civil 3D - Land Desktop Companion 2008

C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2008\AeccAlnSvrLoader.dll

AutoCAD Land Desktop 2008

C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Land Desktop 2008\AeccAlnSvrLoader.dll

To confirm the version

  1. Select the file, and then right-click. On the shortcut menu, click Properties.
  2. In the Properties dialog box, click the Version tab.
  3. On the Version tab, look for the file version. For each one of these products the file version should be 17.1.396.0.

If the version is less than 396, the service pack was not installed successfully. The service pack cannot be removed. Instead, you need to reinstall the application, and then reapply the service pack. Click on the applicable link for your product, and then follow the installation instructions:

Creating a Symbol Library from AutoCAD Blocks

Applies to:
Autodesk MapGuide Studio 2009 English

Issue:
You have a DWG file that contains point features that you stylized using AutoCAD blocks as symbols.

When you loaded the drawing in Autodesk MapGuide Studio 2009, you noticed that a symbol library was not created for the AutoCAD blocks you used in your DWG file and those symbols were not available in MapGuide Studio.

Solution:
In MapGuide Studio 2009, you can create a symbol library from drawing symbols (AutoCAD blocks) by publishing the WG file from AutoCAD Map 3D 2009. Follow these steps:

  1. In AutoCAD Map 3D 2009, right-click the point feature layer in Display Manager. On the Shortcut menu, click Edit Style.
  2. In the Style Editor, under Scale Ranges, select the scale range to style.
  3. In the Point Style area for the selected scale range, under Style, click the box.
  4. In the Style Point dialog box, select the Style A Point Symbol check box.
  5. Click the Symbol button.
  6. In the Select A Symbol dialog box, click the button on the right side of the drop-down list to open a block symbol file (external drawing).
  7. Select one of the available symbols from the external file you want to use for stylizing the point feature layer.
  8. Close the Style Editor.
  9. Save the DWG file.
  10. On the File menu, click More Plotting Options > Publish to Autodesk MapGuide.
  11. In the Publish To MapGuide dialog box, specify the URL for the target website. If the site requires a password, a Connect to Site dialog box will appear. Enter your user name and password.
  12. Select a folder for the published files.
  13. Click Publish.
Now, the AutoCAD blocks used in Map 3D 2009 for stylizing the point feature layers will be included in a new Symbol Library in Autodesk MapGuide Studio 2009. Additionally, those symbols will be available for stylizing other point feature layers in MapGuide Studio.

Note: This procedure will not work if the AutoCAD blocks you use in the drawing file are defined within the drawing. Instead, the AutoCAD blocks must be selected from an external drawing.
