Autodesk announces the availability of the DWG TrueView free download
Share AutoCAD® drawings easily and accurately among engineers and architects with DWG TrueView™. View and plot DWG and DXF™ files, and then publish them as DWF™ files for quick and easy review and markup in Autodesk® DWF™ Composer. And you’ll always get full drawing fidelity because the DWG viewer is built on the same viewing technology as AutoCAD® 2006 software.

Autodesk acquires Solid Dynamics Technology
In our mission to help our customers optimize their design process, Autodesk announces the acquisition of Solid Dynamics, SA. Based in Roanne, France, Solid Dynamics kinematics/dynamics technology enables designers in the manufacturing market to simulate, analyze, test, and optimize physical motion and loading in mechanical assemblies.Solid Dynamics technology is already in use by Autodesk customers as a certified application of Autodesk Inventor® software. The acquisition will allow Autodesk to integrate the technology into future releases of the Autodesk Inventor product.

Autodesk acquires Engineering Intent Corporation
Autodesk, Inc. announced that it has acquired certain assets of Engineering Intent Corporation. Privately held and based in Waltham, Mass, Engineering Intent provides "Engineer to Order" (ETO) software and services. The acquisition enables Autodesk to help its customers address the growing demand for mass customization -- efficiently delivering end products uniquely designed and configured for individual customers.

Autodesk Inventor Series 7 Retirement Date Extended
In August Autodesk announced the postponment of the retirement of AutoCAD® 2002 and 2002-based products until March 15, 2006. This now includes Autodesk Inventor® Series 7 software also.

For more than 30 years, Energy Absorption Systems (EASI) has designed and manufactured highway crash cushions and other safety products credited with saving some 30,000 lives. These energy-absorbing devices, installed along highways in the United States and 57 other countries, can bring a fast-moving vehicle to a safe stop when it veers into a roadside barrier. EASI, an industry leader in research and development, recently turned to the sophisticated 3D capabilities of the Autodesk Inventor Series to aid its design and documentation teams in creating life-saving products. With the Autodesk Inventor Series, the company has been able to reduce physical prototypes by as much as one-third and cut development
time by 10 percent.

Cross Bros. addressed their need to design more efficient systems in less time
It is a typical David and Goliath story. That’s the way Kenneth Groth, Operations Manager at Cross Bros.,
describes how his company recently won the biggest contract in their 150-year history. Cross Bros. is a materials handling business that specializes in individually designed, one-of-a-kind conveyor systems. With annual revenue of 6 million dollars, they were vying for a 4-million dollar proposal. Cross Bros. relied on the 3-D design and presentation capabilities of Autodesk Inventor to enable them to compete against larger companies
for this big account.
