Parker Hannifin depends on Autodesk for global design collaboration
Parker Hannifin turned to Autodesk for one of the main product design tool sets it uses throughout its global enterprise. Parker divisions share their Autodesk Inventor designs globally so that other divisions can reuse them in their own projects. The power and effi ciency of Autodesk solutions, combined with extensive design reuse, have allowed some Parker divisions to see signifi cant reductions in design cycle times. Parker is increasing customer
satisfaction by accelerating deliveries on many projects. Through its products and its consulting services, Autodesk is enabling a vital competitive edge as Parker transitions from a strategic supplier of components to a provider of
complex systems and solutions for customers.

Massive productivity gains are being seen with Vault and Productstream
Hosting data management customers at the AU Listening Session revealed massive productivity gains that we just had to share. Read on to get a taste of the success the Vault and Productsteam customers are experiencing!

Slash product development time from 30 days to 3
One manufacturer of safety containment solutions has implemented Vault and Productstream and slashed product development time from 30 days to 3. Prior to implementing Autodesk data management tools, they had a CAD environment that should look very familiar to most users.

Before:

  • Using the “world’s most popular DM system” i.e. Windows file system
  • 75,000 Inventor files, multiple copies of the same files
  • Tons of issues finding and reusing data

After:

  • 5,000 Inventor files after scrubbing for duplicate files and building a “clean” purchased parts library
  • Vault fully implemented, Productstream implemented for release process
  • Amazing design reuse and elimination of multiple file copies

Developing 3D customer proposals 5 times faster
Autodesk data management solutions have enabled one customer to develop 3D concepts for aviation ground support equipment 5 times faster than before. Before Vault and Productstream this customer was finding the challenge of a 90 day proposal cycle difficult to meet.

Before:

  • Accidentally deleted/overwrote files
  • Found it hard to find old data that could be reused on new proposals
  • Frequently had manufacturing working from the wrong revision of released drawings

After:

  • New 3D concept development time cut from 4 weeks to 4 days with Copy Design
  • Entire deployment up and running in 2 hours

It all started with an executive decision to implement SAP for the enterprise. That decision immediately triggered the purchase of Productstream for the design workgroup based on its best in class Inventor integration and the possibility to tie Productstream to SAP for a smooth hand off to manufacturing.
