Inventor 2008 System Requirements We live in a dynamic high-tech world that gives us exciting, innovative technology almost daily, and I can’t recall when system requirements have been so complicated. Autodesk would like to offer you guidance on how to navigate these issues and we’ve created a concise overview of the Inventor System Requirements. Please download this PDF. I would also like to share some additional information regarding Vista and 64 bit: Inventor 2008 will install and run on Windows Vista, but is not yet officially supported. We are inviting customers all over the world to install Inventor 2008 on Windows Vista and provide us with feedback via the Autodesk MyFeedback program. We will leverage this customer feedback to provide a high quality, high performance Windows Vista implementation via a service pack in the Fall. Thanks to our Direct X support, the current level of quality and performance of Inventor 2008 on Windows Vista will in many ways exceed that of our competitors’ so called supported versions, but it was not up to our high standards for official support. We will also be preparing you with information on the flaws in our competitors’ implementations. Stay tuned for some very interesting data from Grant that I think you’ll like. Inventor 2008 will run as a 32 bit application on a 64 bit computer – just like Inventor 11. This enables Inventor customers to take advantage of 4 GB of address space and work on ever larger designs. Our first native 64 bit version will be with Inventor 2009. We will leverage the standard Inventor Beta process beginning in November to validate our 64 bit implementation.
