Test Drive: Transportation with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Planning, designing and operating a city’s transit system can be a daunting task. But with AutoCAD® Civil 3D®, you can easily generate a dynamic model of any road, rail, or airport design project – based on multiple design elements. Any change to the elements will result in updated corridor volumes, surfaces, sections and other analysis and output. So the transportation design process can run as smoothly as the transportation itself. In this series of exercises, you will have an opportunity to experience AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 in a realistic project environment.

Join Ideate’s civil engineering team as we walk you through a hands-on exercise whereby you will design a road that has been completed using the powerful corridor model in Civil 3D. The project is at a stage where the plan and profile sheets will need to be generated so the drafter/technician can work on completing the plan set but before the user can create the sheets part of the project needs to be revised due to design changes. Today's workshop will take you through a redesign of a major thoroughfare with superelevation.

These exercises will take us quickly through the following aspects of the design:

  • Introduce Left Turn Lane to existing corridor.
  • Examine Pavement Volumes and Section Views before and after redesign
  • Design Islands using Feature Lines
  • Laying out an integrated Pipe Network
  • Introduce Plan Production tools to quickly layout Plan and Profile sheets
  • Adding dynamic and accurate annotation to a completed design
  • Making significant design changes to a completed design
  • Finalizing plan sets

Who Should Attend
Transportation Engineers, Project Managers, anyone doing transportation projects will appreciate this hands-on review.
