Now that BIM seems to be fully entrenched in our workflow, how can we incorporate the smart components that we are placing into our models with creating better specifications? This presentation will go over how BIM models and Specifications can be linked together to provide better IPD’s and finished projects.

About the Presenter
John R. Guill AIA, CSI, CCS, CCA, SCIP
John is a Specifier and Technical Consultant with DTR Consulting Services, Inc. in Santa Rosa and Roseville, CA specializing in Specifications, Bidding and Quality Control, Construction Contract Administration with over 30 years experience in educational and institutional facilities and has designed numerous public projects for local, state and federal government agencies.

He was a member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) SectionFormat/PageFormat Update Task Team (SPUTT), the CSI/DBIA National Technical Review Committee and serves on the faculty of Sonoma State University School of Extended Educations Construction Management Program where he teaches Construction Contract Administration and Construction Specifying.

He is a contributing member of the Collaborative for High-Performance Schools (CHPS) Professional Advisory Group. He is also a regular presenter on construction topics for CSI, AIA, certification programs and other industry groups at national, regional and local levels. Mr. Guill is a recipient of a number of awards and recognitions for construction specifications and industry education, including CSI’s Ben John Small Memorial Award. His buildings and designs have been honored by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH).
